Burson Conductor GT4 Wins ecoustics Editors’ Choice 2025

ecoustics has named the Burson Conductor GT4 Deluxe an Editors’ Choice in Best DAC/Amps for Headphones: Editors’ Choice 2025, by James Fiorucci. It follows the site’s full review of the Conductor GT4, titled “Desktop DAC/Amp Muscle with Audiophile Finesse”.

ecoustics Editors’ Choice 2025: Best DAC/Amps for Headphones

In the list, the GT4 “sits at the top like a smug heavyweight champ”. ecoustics describes it as the “forget about upgrading for a decade” option.

Burson Conductor GT4 Sound: Neutral, Precise and Dynamic

The review describes the sound as neutral and precise rather than warm, with a wide soundstage and stunning macro- and micro-dynamics. In the reviewer’s words, it is “the most dynamic and controlled presentation I’ve heard in a DAC/amp combo under $4,000.”

Headphones, Power Supply and Op-Amps

The reviewer listened with the Dan Clark Audio Noire X, and the GT4 drove the HiFiMAN HE6se V2 with ease. The review unit was used with the Super Charger 5A. The reviewer found the V7 op-amps clearly better than the V6.

Features Highlighted in the Review

• XMOS XU-316 USB and a CSR8675 Bluetooth receiver
• 99-step volume with low and high gain
• Seven FIR filters and adjustable DPLL
• Wide range of inputs and outputs, plus op-amp rolling

Pros and Cons

• Pros: power, I/O, op-amp rolling, dynamics.
• Cons: runs hot (the case gets very warm in use), and the design doesn’t scream luxury.
