Korean channel Producer DK reviewed the Burson Conductor GT4 in “Class-A! 헤드폰을 위한 최고의 올인원” (“Class-A! The best all-in-one for headphones”). The review is in Korean, so the quotes below are our own translation.
A Changed Burson Sound
The hosts recall that they found the GT3 a little rough in the V6 era, and say the newer Burson sound has changed a lot. The Korean import package is a Deluxe that ships with the 24V 5A adapter in place of the Super Charger, because of certification. It keeps the Silent Power modules, and the unit contains six V7 op-amps.
Burson Conductor GT4 Features and Connectivity
- Inputs: two XLR and two RCA analogue inputs, plus USB-C, optical, coaxial and Bluetooth
- Outputs: XLR and RCA, plus a subwoofer output. The headphone plus subwoofer mode was a highlight.
- Simple remote (input, volume, mute) and a retro monochrome display
- Accessories include XLR-to-RCA adapters (handy for stereo subwoofers), a trigger cable and splitter, and spare op-amps
- A compact size that feels less bulky than the Voyager
They note that real headphone all-in-ones at this level are rare. The GT4 runs very hot because the whole case acts as a heatsink, so don’t cover it. The volume knob needs quick turns to move far.
Listening: From Planars to the HIFIMAN Susvara Unveiled
With a planar headphone, the hosts heard weighty, sticky low bass with texture and vividness that still stayed clear. Another pairing sounded warm, “like a tube amp”. With the HIFIMAN Susvara Unveiled, they said it was the first time they had felt at ease listening to the Susvara. In their experience, amps that drive it this comfortably usually cost at least twice as much.
They describe Burson as “not a transparent amp”: its character thickens the mid-bass texture. The internal ES9038Q2M DAC is good but not top tier, and an external DAC lifted the GT4 further.
Verdict
Their summary (translated): probably the only all-in-one that can properly drive the Susvara Unveiled, with the DAC as a bonus. The video also corrects an earlier slip: Burson is an Australian company.
