David from Prime Audio Reviews reviewed the Standard Burson Playmate 3 on YouTube and in a written review.

Sound Quality

  • Clarity combined with Class A warmth
  • Mids are the strongest trait
  • Tight, controlled bass
  • Polished treble
  • A wide, natural soundstage

Headphone Pairings

The Meze 99 Classics paired well, and the Sennheiser HD650 was a great match. With his very sensitive Spiral Ear IEMs he heard some hiss, and he sees the Playmate 3 as built for headphones rather than IEMs.

Practical Features

He notes the auto-off function and the microphone passthrough, which makes the Playmate 3 useful for calls and gaming.

Verdict

David calls the Burson Playmate 3 “absolutely brilliant”.
