Build

  • Works worldwide on 100 to 240 volts, with the plug adapters included in the box
  • “It feels pretty hefty it feels very nicely built”
  • Slim enough that you can still use the plugs next to it on a power board or wall socket

How it sounds

He tested it with the Burson Funk and a battery-powered DAC, using IEMs, headphones and speakers. “The Burson supercharger does indeed make a difference.”

  • He hears it most in imaging and soundstage: “the added cleanliness and transparency creates a blacker background”
  • Transient responses are improved, “giving notes better defined edges”
  • “Micro details become easier to distinguish”, and in complex passages the extra control and precision “make the sound as neat as a pin”

An honest note

He says the changes are subtle and you need good gear to hear them. With budget headphones or speakers you will likely get more from upgrading those first. He also calls it “rather expensive” for what looks like a power brick, but reasonable next to the cost of a good DAC, amplifier or speakers.

Verdict

“The Burson supercharger really does improve the sound of a good audio system.” For people who already have a solid setup and want the most from it: “I can easily recommend you get yourself one of these, you won’t regret it.”
