Burson V7 Vivid Op Amps Review by Pragmatic Audio: Beautifully Made, Thoughtfully Engineered

Published on

Post Info

Pragmatic Audio reviewed Burson V7 Vivid op amps in both single and dual versions, testing them in a Burson Playmate 3 with Sennheiser HD600 and Meze 109 Pro headphones, and in an Ampapa D1 driving KEF LS50 Meta speakers.

Note: the V7 Vivid reviewed here is the op amp now sold as the V7 Vivid Pro.

Build and Installation

The review highlights the machined aluminium heatsinks, gold-plated pins and included extension board, and walks through installation, including lining up the half-moon notch with the socket.

Sound

He describes the change as subtle: vocals became slightly more focused, like moving from a “good seat to a slightly better one in the same concert hall”, with a “mild improvement in clarity and definition”. Bass and treble stayed much the same, and in the Ampapa D1 the differences were even more minimal.

Verdict

He calls the V7 Vivid “beautifully made, thoughtfully engineered” and gives it “a solid 4 stars: great for the right audience”.
