I’ve had the pleasure of owning three Burson Conductor models, and I currently enjoy the GT4 and Fusion, along with the Composer 3X and Soloist 3X. What truly stands out for me is the incredibly detailed sound signature that Burson delivers compared to other brands. I’ve never encountered a pair of headphones that Burson equipment couldn’t drive to their full potential. It’s a fantastic experience that really elevates my listening sessions!
The System
Listening with
- Impedance: 55 Ω
- Sensitivity: 104 dB SPL / 1 mW @ 1 kHz ≈ 116.6 dB/V (calc.)
- Frequency response: 5 Hz – 28 kHz
- Plugs / cables supplied: 4-pin XLR; 6.35 mm; 3.5 mm cables supplied
Matching notes: At 55 Ω and 104 dB/mW, the Focal Clear is a low-impedance load, and an efficient one: about 0.47 V (4 mW, 8.5 mA) for 110 dB SPL (calc.). Burson does not publish a 55 Ω rating for the Conductor GT4. Its 32 Ω and 100 Ω ratings (10 W XLR / 5 W SE; 5 W XLR / 2.5 W SE) fall either side of it. The Conductor GT4’s 0.5 Ω headphone output impedance is 1/110 of the load. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]
- Impedance: 35 Ω
- Sensitivity: 105 dB SPL / 1 mW @ 1 kHz ≈ 119.6 dB/V (calc.)
- Frequency response: 5 Hz – 23 kHz
- Plugs / cables supplied: 1.2 m OFC cable, 3.5 mm TRS plug + 6.35 mm adapter; 3.5 mm mono sockets on cups
- Other: THD 0.1% @ 1 kHz / 100 dB SPL; 435 g
Matching notes: At 35 Ω and 105 dB/mW, the Focal Radiance is a low-impedance load, and an efficient one: about 0.33 V (3.2 mW, 9.5 mA) for 110 dB SPL (calc.). Burson does not publish a 35 Ω rating for the Conductor GT4. Its 32 Ω and 100 Ω ratings (10 W XLR / 5 W SE; 5 W XLR / 2.5 W SE) fall either side of it. The Conductor GT4’s 0.5 Ω headphone output impedance is 1/70 of the load. [6] [7] [4] [5]
- Impedance: 20 Ω
- Sensitivity: 103 dB/1mW (at Drum Reference Point) ≈ 120.0 dB/V (calc.)
- Frequency response: 10 Hz – 50 kHz
- Plugs / cables supplied: braided 4-pin XLR combo cable with 6.35 mm single-ended adapter
- Other: recommended power >250 mW (min >100 mW; max 5 W RMS); 106 mm driver; max SPL >130 dB
Matching notes: At 20 Ω and 103 dB/mW, the Audeze LCD-X is a low-impedance load, and an efficient one: about 0.32 V (5 mW, 16 mA) for 110 dB SPL (calc.). Burson does not publish a 20 Ω rating for the Conductor GT4; its nearest published rating is 10 W XLR / 5 W SE into 32 Ω. The Conductor GT4’s 0.5 Ω headphone output impedance is 1/40 of the load.
