Tone Deaf Monk has reviewed the Burson Conductor Stellar Deluxe in his video “The Burson Audio Stellar Crack Effect”, testing it with headphones and a wide range of IEMs. “Honestly, I was trying to find some negative things to come and say about this thing… but I really can’t.”

Made for IEM users too
“If you were looking for a desktop solution that was geared for IEM, your search is over with the Stellar. I’m telling you that right now.” With its ultra-low noise and black background, he says you get a presentation “with amazing clarity and dynamics”.
Features he loved
- The ESS DAC “offers up for me the biggest and most 3D holographic sound stage with the best instrument layering”
- The menu system is “simple, intuitive, no nonsense”
- Bluetooth “was surprisingly actually one of my favorite ways to enjoy the Stellar”
- The size was “wife approved”
With headphones
With his HiFiMan 400i planars, the Conductor Stellar “really made those headphones sing… I’ve never heard them sound like that before.” With the Meze 109 Pro, “the depth of the bass notes the Stellar could pull out was simply fantastic.”
On Youn Sun Nah’s “Enter Sandman”, the Stellar “could just pull out such micro details”, which he called “simply staggering”, and handled micro dynamics “better than I’ve ever heard that track on any gear.”
With IEMs
From budget single-dynamic IEMs to the iBasso Epitome flagship, the Stellar elevated every pairing. With the Epitome, “a completely holographic presentation… like listening to the song for the very first time.” He calls it the “Stellar crack effect”.
Conclusion: a huge heart
“To my ears, the Stellar sounds a lot like the more expensive big brother, the Conductor GT4… but in a smaller footprint.” He describes “bass that is deep and controlled, natural, effortless midrange full of emotion and layered with depth” and “a top end that is brilliant but not bright”.
“I think Burson has possibly made the most perfect desktop all-in-one solution for not just headphone users but IEM aficionados like myself… The Stellar may have a smaller footprint, but it has a huge heart.”
